As I strolled across the sandy beach, I noticed a lonely starfish hanging out on a small rock. I decided to take a seat next to it, and admire the scenery. Before I knew it, the sun was casting an array of colors as it went down in the horizon. The colors ran through the surface of the water, so you couldn't tell where it ended and the sky started. Beautiful...and it disappeared. I left the starfish to the glow of the moon.
The next day, I returned to the same spot and found the starfish waiting for me. I smiled at it, sat down, wiggled my toes in the sand, and watched the sun slid away across the sky. The tides were high enough to tickle my toes, so I knew it was time to go. The starfish remained on the rock as I walked away.
The following day, I visited that small rock on the beach and found the starfish basting in the golden glow, "Hello, my friend!" I nestled my bottom into the sand nearby, and started drawing in the sand with a twig. I drew a butterfly before leaving the starfish for the night. I whispered, "Good-bye, my friend," and glanced back to see the starfish softly illuminating in the moonlight.
On the third day, I skipped happily across the sand to the small rock, but found it vacant. Where was my starfish? I looked around the rock, but no sign of my five legged friend. I plopped down to where I usually sat, and noticed my butterfly drawing had also disappeared. The tides had washed it away and most likely the starfish left with it. *sighs* I stared off into the distance and watched the sunset in solitude. Maybe a part of me was hoping the starfish would return soon, but once the moon appeared I accepted the fact that starfish was gone for good. I sent a message into the night, and hoped the waves will carry them to my friend, "I will miss you."
